Title I Notification

Connections Learning Centeris dedicated to making sure all of our children succeed in school and in life. We are proud of the programs we offer at Connections  Learning Center that help students learn and ultimately be successful.

The Every Student Succeeds Act, ESSA, signed into law by President Obama in December 2015, requires states to set challenging standards in math, reading or language arts, and science that are aligned with higher education and Career and Technical Education (CTE) expectations. In Colorado, we use Colorado Academic Standards.

Connections Learning Center prioritizes our Title I Funding in the following ways

Connections LearningCenter receives funds from Title I, which is a federal program that provides resources to schools that have high free lunch numbers. Every school receiving Title I money is required to notify families of these rights

to know the qualifications of your child’s teacher to teach the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;

to know if the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived;

to know if your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications;

to have timely notice that the student has been assigned, or has been taught for 4 or more consecutive weeks by, a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensure requirements at the grade level and subject area in which the teacher has been assigned.

to expect regular communication about your child’s academic growth in a language you can understand

to help plan and know how money for family engagement and school budgets are spent;

to work with other families, teachers, and the principal in developing a Unified Improvement Plan and a school-level family agreement between school and families; 

to request a meeting with your child’s teacher or the principal; 

to participate in your school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), school Accountability Committee, or other school family meetings  and support the success of all children.

Provide a safe and welcoming environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

Provide high quality curriculum and      instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment. 

Meet by grade level to discuss and plan curriculum that is based on common assessments to increase student achievement.  

Hold conferences with families in October and February. 

Send report cards three times per year.

Develop goals with students that focus on increasing skills and strategies; send students home with practical ideas to support learning at home. 

Follow up with communication when 

students are absent for two consecutive days.  

Involve families in the joint development of any school wide program plan, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way.

Inform families of the school’s participation in Title I, Part A programs, and to explain the Title I, Part A requirements, and the right of families to be involved in Title I, Part A programs.

CLC is a Restorative school and committed to resolving conflict to the benefit of all stakeholders. The school in partnership with families achieve a high level of collaboration, focusing on students’ best interest.

Bring my student to school by 8:50 every morning or call the attendance line at (303)982-9324 by 9:30 if my student will be late or absent. 

Provide a space where my student can focus on homework; verify with my student that homework and reading has been completed each day. 

Attend family-teacher conferences to understand my student’s social and academic development at school. 

Engage and participate in school/community organized activities. 

Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my children’s education.

Use the Friday folder materials to discuss my student’s learning in the classroom and use the information sent home to support 

learning at home. 

Staying informed about my child’s education by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district received either by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate. 

Understand and support school rules around appropriate behavior, code of conduct and dress code.

Read and study for at least 20 minutes daily and complete the homework assigned by my teacher.
